Submit Your Transcripts To Get Ahead
Clear prerequisites at the beginning and don't take more classes than you need!
If a course(s) you want to take at Cabrillo has a prerequisite/corerequisite and you have taken an equivalent prerequisite/corerequisite course at another educational institution and passed it, you will need submit your transcripts to Cabrillo for evaluation and to request to clear prerequisites.
Once cleared, you'll be able to register. Both high school and college coursework can be evaluated. Limitations apply for both.
START HERE:
Complete the External Coursework Requisite Clearance eTrieve form. The form requires attachment of transcripts; unofficial is okay. Use one form per course.
Select: I have taken the equivalent prerequisite/corerequisite course at another Educational Institution and passed it (transcript/test scores required).
Use the “attachments” button below the form to include a PDF copy of your unofficial transcript.
Submit the form for review using the "Submit" button below the form.
What to expect:
If your form is approved, then the prerequisite has been cleared and you can register for the course.
If your eform is denied, please select the “history” button for notes on why it was denied. Please email evaluator@cabrillo.edu with any questions.
If you believe you have the knowledge and skills required to be successful in the course you can challenge the prerequisite.
ProTip: if registration is open and time is a factor, you can fast-track this process by bringing an unofficial transcript in Drop-In Advising (in person or Zoom). An Academic Counselor will review it to verify that you have met the prerequisite for the class you want to take and will clear it during the session; then you will be able to register.

Steps to clear prerequisites
A prerequisite is a course or qualification that must be completed before you may register for:
the next course in a sequence like English C1000 for English C1001; or
a course requiring some expertise in a related subject, like algebra for chemistry; or
to enter a program, like Nursing or Dental Hygiene. (avoid delays, please see an Academic Counselor for the specific program first)
The Cabrillo equivalent of a minimum grade of "C" or "P" must be earned in the prerequisite course to satisfy the prerequisite. Clearing a prerequisite does not earn units toward your degree; it only allows you to register in the course with the prerequisite. You will see this notated as an "EQ" in your Student Planning Timeline.
