A Cabrillo College Trustee since 2014, Christina has decades of experience in education, counseling, health planning, nonprofit program design, and grant portfolio management in regional, national, and international philanthropy. She moved to Santa Cruz County In 1998 to join Community Foundation Santa Cruz County as the Program Director and retired in 2019. Prior to moving here, she served as the Executive Director of Latino USA, a nationally syndicated public radio program of news, arts, and culture.

Originally from Hayward, CA, Christina has an MPH from UC Berkeley, an MA form Santa Clara University and a BA from San Jose State University.

Christina believes in the power of education to change individuals, families, and communities. As a first-generation student, she supports Cabrillo’s work to address the barriers many students encounter in college. She champions curriculum changes and the development of outreach and support services designed to help students; especially marginalized and adult learners, advance their personal and career goals.

Christina has served on numerous local and national nonprofit and public sector boards. Currently, she serves on the board of the Cabrillo College Foundation, is a member of Cabrillo’s Native American and Indigenous Support Committee and the Organizing Team of Women in Leadership for Diverse Representation, (WILDR), a group committed to increasing the presence of women in public service.
