Hi, I'm Gwyn!

I've been a nurse for a little over 5 years. My first degree was in Exercise Physiology at Chico State. After graduating, I quickly realized that I wanted to take the leap and apply to nursing school. I did two semesters at Cabrillo while finishing my prerequisites and then moved to Colorado where I did an accelerated nursing program that happened to land during the beginning of COVID.

I started my nursing career on a MedSurg unit in Denver, then transferred to an acute Pediatrics unit where I worked the majority of my nursing career. I moved back to Santa Cruz almost two years ago after having my first baby and have been working in the NICU ever since. Something I love about nursing is that it's really a team effort and a field where you are constantly growing intellectually and personally. I love teaching because it forces me to find answers to questions that I may not have known before.
