About John

Interconnectedness and value define my work, as an instructor and as an economist. In a former life, I was a jazz musician, and created interconnection through sound. I've had a lot of different jobs in various fields: finance, trading, real estate, music; the one throughline has been my desire to disambiguate hidden systems to find meaning and resonance. You can hear stories about these gigs in my classroom, where I help students see and quantify the invisible structures that shape our world.

Systems Design

Outside of academia, I collaborate with firms to design strategies and systems anchored in statistical evidence. My practice runs on an integration of analytical disciplines:

• Methodologies: financial econometrics, probabilistic forecasting, machine learning, AI stack engineering, and the development of reliable data pipelines

• Technical environment: Python, R, SQL, and PyTorch, with cloud‑native orchestration on GCP and Kubernetes.
