Hi, I'm Lisa (or Dr. Gilbert), Department Chair of Geology, Oceanography and Environmental Science. I have been teaching college science courses for more than 20 years and I am committed to making education more welcoming, relevant, and joyful for all. I believe learning can be especially nourishing and connective outside. You can often find me with students at a beach, in a forest, on a mountain, or out on boats. I completed my A.B. degree in Earth Sciences at Dartmouth College and M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Washington in Oceanography. The coolest place I have ever visited is the bottom of the Pacific Ocean in the submersible Alvin.
