The Cabrillo College and UCSC Student Housing Project, which will be named Costa Vista, is historic, as the first California Community College and University of California (UC) student housing collaboration to be located on a community college campus. The 257,000 square-foot, 624-bed project will span three buildings, with 60% of the beds designated for Cabrillo College students and 40% of the beds designated for UCSC students. The Costa Vista Housing Project will include single occupancy, double occupancy, and family units, and will also feature a child care center for its residents. By state statute, rents for all units will be affordable.
The project developer is Greystar, the general contractor is Devcon Construction, the public private partner is Collegiate Housing Foundation, and WRNS Studio is the project architect. Jones Lang LaSalle is the project management firm, and Raymond James is facilitating the sale of the state bonds to finance the project.

Student Housing Project Childcare Center
The Cabrillo College and the Cabrillo College Foundation are raising $5M in funding to construct a new 5,787 square-foot childcare center as part of its student housing project.
The Childcare Center will offer subsidized care for approximately 64 infants, toddlers, and preschoolers between 6 months and 3 years of age, primarily supporting student parents attending Cabrillo College or UCSC.
This center will include 3,562 square-foot of classroom space, 2,225 of childcare services, and an outdoor space of at least 3,900 square-feet - all of which meet California regulations for childcare licensing.
Core components of the program include providing high-quality, full-time childcare with early childhood educational programming, space for outside play, and nutritional food service that offers meals three times per day.
The new childcare facility will be managed by Community Bridges after a competitive selection process led by the college.
The center will support employing 12 to 16 professional staff, including a site supervisor, early childcare education specialists trained by the college, a meal prep staff member, and support staff.
