Stop by our Suicide Prevention and Awareness Vigil events on September 10th, World Suicide Prevention Day
10 am to 2 pm at the Student Services Showcase in Aptos (Library Plaza)

September is Suicide Prevention and Awareness Month. According to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, it is the 2nd leading cause of death among youth and young adults ages 15-34 (10th overall). Knowing the signs, and getting certified in Mental Health First Aid to learn how to help those in crisis, is a crucial part of prevention. Student Health Services is offering Mental Health First Aid training for free to staff and students (a $150 value) on Friday, September 18th from 8:30 am to 3:30 pm. Enroll here or download the flyer for more information.
Please also download and share our September 2026 Suicide Prevention & Awareness poster to spread awareness of the most common warning signs and how you can help.
