The study of Theatre Arts/Drama requires creative technical and performance skills that benefit students in their individual relationships with others in social and artistic environments. Students selecting to major and minor in Theatre Arts/Drama frequently choose this area of study for three reasons: (1) to enter the professional fields of theatre, film, television, radio, and modeling; (2) to enter communication fields in teaching, business, industry and law; (3) to pursue personal goals or leisure activity in community events.
Opportunities for careers in theatre arts/drama are found in acting, theatre lighting, costume design, set production, scenery design, scene painting, television production, theatre production management, stage management, teaching and directing.

Cabrillo College Theatre Arts is excited to announce AUDITIONS for the Fall 2026 show
MACHINAL
a play by Sophie Treadwell
Directed by Robin Aronson
First performed on Broadway in 1928 and inspired by a sensational, media-frenzied
murder trial, MACHINAL is a rare treasure of American Expressionism by a female
playwright that tells the electrifying story of a Young Woman who, trapped by stifling
expectations in a hard, mechanized society, performs an act of desperation to free
herself, only to pay the ultimate price.
There are many fantastic speaking roles that revolve around the Young Woman
protagonist. There is plenty of ensemble action during scenes. Most actors will play
more than one role. Cast size 16-19.
Inclusive casting. All students and community actors are welcome!
Directed by Robin Aronson. Questions? roaronso@cabrillo.edu
