Cabrillo Community College District (CCCCD) is committed to creating an inclusive and supportive environment for all members of our community. To better serve the unique needs of LGBTQIA2+ students, faculty, and staff, the campus now offers a dedicated Confidential Point of Contact. These individuals are here to provide a safe, informed, and nonjudgmental space for support and connection. While distinct from the Title IX Office, they work in alignment with our college policies and are not obligated to report incidents of sexual harassment, discrimination, or violence without your written permission. This role reflects our District’s ongoing effort to center trust, respect, and empowerment in every interaction.

The designated Confidential Point of Contact for LGBTQIA2+ individuals:

• Shall not disclose any confidential information shared with them regarding alleged acts of sexual harassment, sexual violence, or discrimination unless written consent is provided by the reporting party.

• Is not responsible for initiating investigations or reporting allegations to Title IX or campus administration without consent.

• Must operate in a manner that is fully consistent with Title IX regulations and college policies.

• Listen confidentially - nothing you share is reported unless you say so in writing.

• Give you clear information about campus policies, Title IX protections, and services.

• Connect you to the right offices or resources if you decide you want action taken.

• Support you first - no pressure, no surprises.

• The CPC is not required to report sexual harassment to Title IX staff unless you want them to.

• They do not investigate complaints or make decisions about policy violations.

• If the CPC is also a mandated reporter (for things like child abuse), they must still follow state law.

The Confidential Point of Contact was established to ensure LGBTQIA2+ community members have access to information, support, and guidance before deciding whether to engage in a formal process.

This role helps to:

• Provide a safe and affirming first point of contact

• Empower individuals to make informed choices about reporting and support options

• Increase access to campus and community resources

• Strengthen institutional support for LGBTQIA+ students, faculty, and staff by identifying needs and opportunities for improvement

The Office of Student Equity offers programs, resources, and services to better serve and support underrepresented student groups. Through programs, resources, and services, the Office of Student Equity furthers Cabrillo College's vision of supporting a climate of diversity and self-empowerment with a strong sense of social justice.

Student Health Services can provide confidential personal counseling, first aid, birth control, emergency contraceptives (morning after pill), pregnancy tests and STI (sexually-transmitted infection) testing.

The Cabrillo College Gender Sexuality Alliance is a student group that provides an inclusive and supportive space for LGBTQIA2+students and straight allies.

The Cabrillo College Rainbow Council is a group of Staff, Faculty, and Students united in support and celebration of our LGBTQIA2+ students and community, providing educational tools, meaningful changes, and events.

The Diversity Center offers a place of community for LGBTQ folks in the Santa Cruz area. They offer outreach and education as well as group counseling services.

The National Center for Transgender Equality is a social justice organization dedicated to advancing the equality of transgender people through advocacy, collaboration, and empowerment.

Transgender Law Center is a civil rights organization advocating for transgender communities. Services include connecting trans-identified people and their families to sound legal services.

The Human Rights Campaign is the largest civil rights organization working to achieve equality for LGBTQIA2+ Americans.
